When adding an external link to Journal - the app fetches title of the page, sometimes description and oftern even an image from the page. Problem is that the link does not work so users need to copy and paste the URL from the text-field The TITLE is not HTML-encoded but the description is, but. making the content of the popup preview very confusing for users. Is there any way I con fix this myself. maybe solution
This is what it looks like
The page I link to is utf-8 none encoded
I tried to remove html encoding and escaping from the /Portals/DesktopModules/Journal/scripts/journal.js but that did not help
In database TABLE the data is saved in the same field {ItemData} But with different encoding:
Any help appreciated, would like to make this less confusing for the USERS.
What version of DNN are you using? I think there's some kind of a fix regarding encoding of journal items in DNN 9.8 But I'm not sure if it's related to this issue. If I understand at least apart of you question correctly you would want an option that the Journal editor does not "load the URL and create a preview"?
Thank you
Well not quite, I would like the journal to not html-encode the description value, or else, if displaing the description value to show it decoded as it does when the linkj is submittet and shown in the log.
The problem is only after link is written in text box, but yet not submittet. After the link is submittet it is shown html-encoded-decoded in the journal. and here it looks normal
I am testing on 3 different servers.
DNN 9,8,0 new installation located in Denmark DNN 9,8,0 upgraded version on Azure in EU (Holland) DNN 9,8,0 upgraded version hosted on UK server (England)
