Admin logs taking lots of memory

    Thanks again for your advice and information. I fixed the Host alert issue, but still need to figure out why the logs are so huge.

    In the log file, there are many entries that look something like htis:

    2021-06-16 00:15:08,078 [SCZAS51][Thread:22][DEBUG] DNN.Trace - PageBase.IterateControls Info (TabId:96,ControlId: )

    Do you know what these are?

      It appears that log4net is set up to log DEBUG messages.

      The config file for log4net is DotNetNuke.log4net.config.

      You will want to look at the "level" setting which, normally, is set for ERROR



      The possible settings are:

      ALL
      DEBUG
      INFO
      WARN
      ERROR
      FATAL
      OFF

      So, if level is not set to INFO, I'd reset it to that.

      And, you can delete the existing .log files.

        Thanks again for this - I see that now. Our internet site is set to the ERROR setting.

        Do you know the difference between the INFO and ERROR settings?

          INFO should contain more data ...

            Thanks - One last question - after making this a change to the DotNetNuke.log4net.config , does the site need to be restarted? Does there need to be an IIS reset?

              AFAIK, changing any .config file will restart the website automatically, but you may restart the app pool to be sure. No need for an IIS reset.
