Site Import Not Working

I exported a site on DNN 9.9.1 (full) with no issues. I am moving the site to a customer's new server. I Installed DNN 9.9.1 on the new server. When I attempt to import from my previous export, it throws an error and stops. No logging of the event/action anywhere.  The error is in red "There was an error retrieving your content. Please check your internet connection".

I have attempted to restore the same export on the same server and installation where the export was created and I get the same error and inactivity. Apparently no imports will work.

Can someone shed some light on how to remedy this issue?

Did you install all the modules you have from other site to this new site?

Where did you place the export files?

I have not yet installed the modules and skins but will do so.

The file was placed in the appdata folder/imports/exports folder.

Let me try the modules/skin install and try again.

In my version of dnn there is only an App_Data\ExportImport folder - That is where I place mine.  My version is 9.7.2.

I might add that the import wouldn't work on the exact same server/DNN install where it was created! All modules and templates remained installed! I have tried this on multiple exports on the same server. Same issue!

The folder name is: App_Data\ExportImport. I previouisly mistyped the name.

Is the Scheduler - Site Import/Export enabled?  Try running it manually?

                The scheduler is running.

I googled your issue - please look at this : https://dnnsupport.dnnsof...internet-connection-

Also are you renaming the export files - if so, try not doing that.

Refer to this github issue: https://github.com/dnnsof...Platform/issues/3076

If you can look in the /Portals/_default/logs folder, Look at the file for the current date and see if more information is there.  YOu may also see an _installyyyymmdd file for the current date, have a look at that one as well if present.

Hopefully a more detailed error will be visible there.

Thank you both (John and Mitch) for your responses. I had indeed renamed the backup file and had not installed the modules and skin before the import. The import completed. i have some "messes" to clean up, but that's minor compared to having to completely create the site again!
