I am trying to setup a second portal site with type "domain" for my client's DNN website and I am running into issues accessing the new site when using the new domain. For clarity, the website is hosted in Microsoft Azure, and I have added our SSL certificate and validated the custom domain for the second site. Before adding the second portal in DNN admin settings, I verified that the new DNS entry is navigating to the default portal home page successfully.
When I add a second portal (with type "domain") in DNN admin settings with the new domain name registered in our DNS provider, I get a 502 bad gateway error when navigating to the new domain URL. Can anyone think of any possible reasons that could be causing this? Currently the site is DNN Platform 9.0.2 (yes I know it is very much due for an upgrade, which I am planning to perform soon). Let me know what other information I can provide that would help diagnose the issue.
Thanks
I know you're using Azure, but what part(s) for the DNN website? Are you using an Azure VM or Web Apps for example?
Have you added the new domain to the new site in your DNN website? Is that domain also marked as the Primary Alias?
Are there any firewalls in the way, such as CloudFlare? Those might need to be adjusted as well.
Thanks for moving the post where it needs to be. My test site is hosted in an Azure web app and yes I have added the new domain alias to the second portal and it is set as the primary. I also created a third portal with type "Directory" just to test if other portals are working, and that also gives me a 502 bad gateway error. So whether it be domain or directory, all secondary portals are not working and giving me 502 bad gateway errors. I am upgrading to 9.11 to see if it helps, but something tells me it won't make a difference.
I will check on the firewall setting, but as far as I know, my test site has no major firewall settings.
Well, the firewall that would be relevant in this case would be a WAF such as Imperva or CloudFlare.
In this case, I think you might need to also add that domain as a custom domain in the web app.
