Hosting multiple domains on single instance of DNN

I am getting a bit too close to this and I need a dose of outside perspective.  I am looking to host about 10 domains with a single instance of DNN.  My current provider is allowing only 4.  I know a good deal about  IIS and a little bit about DNS.  Pointing multiple DNS records to the same server should be a piece of cake.  Then just add the site to DNN.

How can I host 10 sites without getting charged an arm and a leg.

    Thank you,

    Richard

Not sure what you mean with " My current provider is allowing only 4 ". Is that DNN hosting or just IIS hosting?
You can register the domainnames externally, but when your provider limits the number of site you can add to IIS that would be the limiting factor..

Are you running your own server? Is it 4 IP's they have allocated or 4 domains you can setup?

If you have rented a dedicated box from a hosting provider, you generally are given a block of IP addresses.

Really today you only need 1 IP address and you can host all your sites from that one IP address if this is the case. Just point all your domains @ record to the IP of your box, setup your IIS to accept those domain names by binding them to the website you have created for them to host DNN... all of them.

Then in DNN create each site with the domain alias (www version and the non-www version) and set the default alias redirect to forward to the www version or whatever you like.

You can use SNI for the SSL be sure to also set this checkbox in IIS when creating the bind.

The plan they have allows for 4 domains.  I don't have access to IIS.  They have WebSitePanel as the control panel.  To setup the domain you point the DNS to their server.  Then you create the "domain" through the control  and pount the physical directory to where it needs to go.  They install DNN for me and then I just use DNN to configure what I need from there.

@Cody that is where I would like to be, but I think I will have to switch plans/providers to get there.
