Cannot login as Host during upgrading from 7.0.3 to 7.4.2

    Hello. I need to upgrade the website that runs DNN 7.0.3 to the latest. Based on this article, I understand that I need to upgrade the website to 7.4.2 first. The website itself is temporarily terminated because it was compromised (all malicious files had already been removed from the server). I found another URL was provided by the hosting company and I'm working on it now.

    I uploaded all files in the upgrade zip file via FTP and accessed to the site URL. As you know, the Upgrade Wizard page appeared and I entered the host account detail but it said 'Username and Password not recognized'.

    I tried to find the solution but any of them were not for my case. It would be very appreciated if you give me a solution...

      I guess the first question is: do you know the superuser's username and password.

      Second question is: does the website run? (And can you login as superuser?)

      If you look at the Users table in the database, you can identify superusers as there is a column names IsSuperuser.

      If you have the username and don't know the password, you might be able to recover it. Check the web.config file to determine what PasswordFormat is being used. If it is encrypted, then there are some tools floating around that can be used to recover the password. If you need that, send me a message using the link in my signature and I'll try to find a copy.

        Thank you for your quick reply, Joe. I'm not familiar to the SQL but I finally found it and the website was upgraded to 7.4.2 successfully! Thank you very much indeed!
