Okay got it. Do you guys use Evoq by the way? It looks like we're definitely going to be using DNN for our intranet so I want to make sure we contribute back and support the company monetarily, and we have bought a few modules, but is purchasing Evoq the best way to do this and hopefully get some cooperation re: patch submissions?

If you're using Evoq, and you really need changes made to the product, the best way is likely to be the developer support channels you get as a paid customer.

Evoq is built on top of the open source DNN platform though. These days DNN Platform is driven more by the the needs of community than Evoq (although that's obviously taken into account) so if you're willing to contribute patches back to the open source project you'll probably be very welcome around these parts. Assuming they're accepted into platform, they'll likely make it into the next release of Evoq anyway. I guess talking to people in the Technology or Developers advisory groups would be a good place to start.

    New Around Here

      Thanks Andrew.

Olly I can't see anywhere you can apply to join, is it by invite only? We don't use Evoq functionality. We would be open to it, but what we really want is just some official support, a bit of goodwill re: pull requests, and to contribute back.

        Hi Chris,

Buying an Evoq license doesn't make you support the community for their efforts. To be honest, I'm not aware of any way to do so at the moment. Monetarily at least.

"Official support" is an interesting one. DNNSoftware offers support, but so do a lot of service providers (like ourselves) that are also active in the community. Not sure what the "official" part in there is, though :-)

          Hi Chris,

As Stefan mentioned, there are a lot of DNN specialized agencies that can support your solutions. You can take your pick at https://dnncommunity.org/...ncies :-)
Most of them offer support including service level agreement.

I think your approach has various sides.
          1. support for licensed modules. This is included when purchasing modules. If you want to reference check any vendors to find out if there any good, let me know. Or ask here on the forum.
          2. support for open source modules. Willingness to pay/sponsor development certainly helps to prioritize the work.
          3. support for DNN platform: I don't think there is much of a difference whether you go with Evoq or Platform. Either way: if custom work is not suitable for the larger product, it won't be incorporated but as some kind of extension. In my experience sponsoring really speeds up the work as you don't get an (valid) answer like 'paying customers first, need to pay the bills'

The technology advisory group is not a secret group but when opening up this new site, the form to join has not been migrated yet. I'll see how I can get you on board.

This is probably my favorite answer, ever, on the topic of supporting DNN.  The best way we can support DNN is to help each other rise.  This is how the community was originally founded and grown - using the abundance principle.  The only thing I'd add is to #4 would be to contract/subscribe to services offered by the various agencies and freelancers that specialize and/or focus on DNN.  :)
