500 internal server error

When trying to upload new images to image manager i get this 500 error message very frustrating just trying to add a covid update to website

It's difficult to answer your question without knowing what DNN version and what you mean exactly with the "Image manager".
Can you add that to the thread?

Sounds like the RAD Editor image upload dialog. If so, there is a size limit on that in the web.config. However you are advised to switch out of the RAD Editor.

i have looked everywhere how do i find the version number? uploading the latest version is like pulling teeth. the image manager is the tool needed to upload new images to the site.

seomastermojo, that was a guess on my part about the image editor. We can figure it out if the problem is that or something else. But before we get into that, let's get your immediate need to upload the COVID 19 image taken care of. You can use the Admin, File Manager to upload your new image to the site first, then go into the HTML module (edit content) and use the image manager again, but this time find the file on the website that you just uploaded instead of uploading it now.

If you are using DNN 9 and above, you will use the "Site Assets" instead of the File Manager, but the rest is the same as written.

So, take care of your image update first, then let us know how it's going, and we'll finish that up and then tackle the editor switch over.
