You're an MVP!

I've been cleaning up a DNN installation that began life as DNN 4.3.5 back in January of 2007.  Needless to say, it's seen lots of things, and I am up to 9.4.4 with plans of getting to 9.7.2.

Today I've been cleaning up the crud that has accumulated.

I started by deleting modules not used, out of date, not upgradeable, etc.  Then I looked at the Desktop modules folder!!!

There were probably a couple of dozen folder corresponding to modules I had deleted years ago, and some that weren't properly deleted recently.  I took a look at /bin and found lots of stuff (and some reminders of some old, forgotten friends).

Why bring this up?  Well ... way back at the beginning of my DNN life I had an interesting conversation with a potential client.  He described his process for vetting modules.  He had a special DNN installtion and his process was simply to install and immediately uninstall a potential new module.  If install/uninstall left anything behind, he would reject the module.

That's a lesson I wish I had taken to heart back then.

I haven't even looked at the database for left behind junk there yet!

Congrats on posting!
I think even popular modules like DNN Sharp and 2SXC leave trails/folders after uninstall. Yes, also if you check delete files. So, it is also when professionals create modules. I guess things are more complicated than should be.

Conclusion: I do agree with the idea but it would leave very little to choose from :-)
