    We solved this somewhat. Our developer programmed some code to redirect a direct link that contained a PDF, IMAGE, etc. to land on a login page. One would have to get the login credentials. The exception is an android phone, it doesn't land on a login page, but it doesn't open the link. Our programmer had to redirect the request by using ? and shortening the URL link somewhat, but not completely.

      That's an interesting solution.  If you and/or your developer that was involved are interested in blogging about it here on the community website, I'm more than happy to set you up to do that.  :)
