    I was just about to submit a new site to search engines but I noticed that the sitemap shows up (practically) empty. Link: https://celestify.com/SiteMap.aspx

    I'd appreciate any tips to resolve the issue as I haven't come across this before.

    So far I have tried:

    • Clear site cache, recycle app
    • Clear sitemap cache
    • Double check all pages are visible and indexing is enabled
    • Double check minimum priority is set correctly

    The strange thing is that the blog post URL shows up fine in the sitemap (because of the OpenContent URL provider), but the DNN pages themselves don't show up. When I disable the OpenContent URL provider, the sitemap is completely empty and just shows the following:

    Config:

    • DNN v9.7.2
    • OpenContent 4.4.0
    • OpenContent Url Extension Provider 1.0.1
    • nginx reverse proxy

      First things I'd check is whether the settings are correct.
      1. Page settings - advanced - SEO: check the sitemap priority
      2. Settings - SEO - Sitemap settings

      There are 2 reasons why/how this can create an empty sitemap.
      1. The sitemap priority of the page is 0.
      2. The sitemap priority is lower than the threshold set in settings

      How is that at your end?

        I haven't changed the sitemap priority at page level so most of them are 0.5 and indexing is turned on. As a quick check, I explicitly set two pages to 0.8 and 1.0 respectively, but that didn't change anything.

        I also uninstalled the OpenContent URL provider and cleared the cache to check if that's the reason it wasn't working, but it made no difference, so I reinstalled it.

        Finally I tried enabling "Include Hidden Pages" as well as "Use Page Level Based Priorities", but none of these resolved the issue either.

        Here are some screenshots showing the current settings for one of the pages as well as the SEO settings:

          Previously I had OpenUrlRewriter installed, turns out when I removed it a while ago it left behind traces in the web.config SitemapHandler section. This should have been set to the coreSitemapProvider, which should have also been visible in the SEO settings, rather than where my screenshot shows openContentSitemapProvider.

          I changed the web.config as follows:

          name="SitemapHandler"
          type="DotNetNuke.Services.Sitemap.SitemapHandler, DotNetNuke"

          This fixed it and the sitemap now works as expected.
