New Around Here

Hello, we are planning to have a numerous DNN portal in one installation and we want to have a different user group per portal.

We will have 1 active directory for all the portal users.

How to set the groupings of each users for each portal?

There are a handful of ways to do this, but they all involve being able to set policy at one level or another.  The most common architecture we use is either:

      • DNN SSO to Okta (then to anything else)
      • DNN SSO to Azure B2C

In either of the above, you'd set policy rules at the destination.  No matter if there is one or 1,000 sites in the DNN instance, DNN simply takes the visitors to the SSO destination, then it parses the response from the IdP (which would be Azure or Okta in thiis example).  In general, your most basic policy would return the visitor back to the URL they were directed from.

There are a number of third-party authentication providers that can help with this, including the one below.

You can also build your own, if you want to have ownership over the IP or simply want to have your own implementation.
