    Hello all,

I was wondering if someone could please advise me on how to rectify this.

Having upgraded my DNN site from 7.3.4 to 9.4.4, I have come across an issue when attempting to export an existing site. It remains in submitted status.

The path I took to get to that stage was Settings> Import/Export

From there I would choose the site to export, click on the export button, give descriptions, and click on the 'Begin Export'  button.

But it remains submitted without change.

I have tried the following advice from dnnsupport,

    https://dnnsupport.dnnsof...bmitted-Status

But it doesn't help that when I go to Servers > Server Settings, the 'Web Server' tab is missing. Nonetheless, I tried to first halt the scheduler, clear the cache, restart the application and restart the export, as per advice. It still remained in submitted status.

The site is hosted on Azure App service.

My objective is to create a new site based on an already existing one. I was hoping that by exporting contents from an existing site, I could then import them from the new one.

    Regards and many thanks,

    Roy

first I suggest upgrading to DNN latest version (9.9.1 atm).
second, if you want to clone a site, simples option is cloning database and file system and adjusting web.config and portalAlias table in the database.

Thanks very much. I will try that.

          Hi Sebastian,

Thank you for your earlier suggestion.

I have upgraded to 9.9.1 and have tried the following :

In Manage -> SItes, I added a new site with blank website as the Site Template.

Then I proceed to export from a site. It is still in submitted status.

I have tried the following link to resolve it, but it is still in 'submitted status'

          https://dnnsupport.dnnsof...-in-Submitted-Status

So my question is, how else could I copy the same set of page templates from one site to another.

Would that be located in the Portals/ directory or would I have to modify the database?

          Thanks very much.

          Regards,

          Roy

Your problem is likely that the scheduled task that does the export is not running. Make sure that the Scheduler is running (from Settings, Scheduler).

However, I have not been particularly successful with this approach. Instead, go to Manage, Sites and then mouse over the site that you want to copy. Select the Export Template icon. Export the template and be sure to include content.

This will create a site template (two files: the template and a resources file). These are created in the /portals/_default directory. You use them with Manage, Sites and Add New Site. As you fill out the form to create the new site, you will have an opportunity to select the template to use. Choose the one that you have created.

The two template files can be moved to /portals/_default in another DNN installation to create the new site there.

Is this is a relatively simple thing, Sebastian's suggestion to clone the existing installation and delete unwanted portals from it is also a very viable way to go.

(In my case, I am working with a DNN installation that includes multiple sites with one for each franchisee in an organization. We create the site template and then it is easy to create sites matching the template when new franchisee are brought on board.)

              Thanks very much, Joe.

That worked well for me. The problem I had much earlier was using another template to create a new site, but I suspect since it was created in a much older version of DNN, it failed. By exporting a new template in this latest version and using it as a template for the new site, worked.

              Thanks again,

              Roy
