Trying to create something akin to an encyclopedia

I'm trying to create something akin to Encyclopedia Britannica: Battle of the Atlantic | Combatants, Significance, & Facts | Britannica

I am capable of writing the raw HTML & CSS to accomplish this, but that seems extraordinarily inefficient within DNN.

I tried using the "wiki" module but it just errors out - I can't access its settings and it's unresponsive; and from what I've researched of it, it also seems rather inefficient for something like this.

I'm almost considering installing an entirely separate CMS software (like DokuWiki) and have part of my website point to that - but that comes with its own headaches.

    Does anybody have any suggestions?

I'd have a look at solutions like 2SXC (www.2sxc.org) or Opencontent modules.

If you want to create articles, add links, tags, categories, and references to related articles, your needs might be satisfied by one of the (many) existing blog/article/news type of modules. EasyDNNNews and Mandeeps LiveBlog or LiveArticles are modules that you might consider. For something that's free, the old Ventrian News Articles module works on modern DNN versions.
