I am trying to put more text into my DNN page's footer area. I went into the database through SQL Server and moved the text limit to 255. I then changed the footer text from both the database and the footer area in the persona bar. However, it still will only reflect the string of text up to the old limit of characters. Any ideas? Thanks!

I have no idea what you changed in the database.

But, things in the footer could be Skin Objects added there, HTML text added to the theme/skin file, or modules added to content panes that are part of the footer. How you modify these items is different for each type.

One thing that you should NOT DO is edit stuff in the database. That's a recipe for heartache and failure.

(Yes, you will see references to editing things in the data base here from time to time. IT'S DANGEROUS and should only be done when you completely understand what you are doing. And remember that people who "completely understand what they are doing" often get it wrong. I have scars that prove that assertion. And if you decide to do that anyway, make sure to make a good database backup first.)

To second Joe, and to give another reason for not changing column sizes or types in the database: this (and the too long content!) could be gone with an upcoming upgrade, or an upcoming upgrade could fail.

Happy DNNing!

Congrats on posting!
Keep things simple: add a HTML module to a footerPane. No limitations there.
If you really don't want to use a module, change the ascx file of the theme.

I appreciate your concern with changing database information. However, I was able to change the length of the footer element, and it seems to allow all my footer text to be displayed now. Thanks for the quick response!
